Home-based authentication
Home-based authentication is a TV provider service feature that automatically logs users in on their home network so they don't have to log in over and over again at home. (It's also referred to as HBA, In-Home Authentication, Network Authentication, Auto Authentication or IP Authentication.)
How HBA can get in the way of authentication
- When users try to use their subscription while on a different network of the service provider that does not have the same access (at a friend or family member's house), users are told they don't have access (when they should!).
- When users have logged in with a different account under the same provider (like with the username for their internet account, when they have a separate TV account with the same company), it may keep signing in with the internet account, and they are told they don't have access (when they should!).
Ideas:
1. Try logging in to our apps off of the network with HBA, if you are able.
2. Reach out to your service provider to ask if you can opt out of HBA and log in manually.
3. It can't hurt to try unlinking at the device level and relinking again, if you haven't already.
